How to get clients, one trade at a time
Every guide answers the same question for a different job: where do the people who want to pay you actually say so, what do they write when they mean it, and what should you reply?
How these guides work
Where the demand is. Every guide starts with the places people in that trade get asked for by name — local Facebook groups, neighbourhood pages, trade communities, and the handful of marketplaces that still convert. We name the group types rather than telling you to “build a presence”, because the difference between a buying group and a venting group is most of the outcome.
What real intent sounds like. Then the phrases. A cleaner and a financial advisor are hired with completely different sentences, and the wording is what separates someone ready to pay this week from someone browsing. Each page lists the phrasing that matters for that job, plus the near-misses worth ignoring so you spend your replies where they pay.
What to say first. Finally the reply: how quickly to answer, what to ask before quoting, and how to post without tripping a group’s self-promotion rules. Pricing and qualifying advice is job-specific too, because an hourly trade and a retainer business need different first messages.
The guides are updated as we see the patterns shift across the groups HuddleWatch monitors. If your job isn’t listed, the closest one is usually near enough — the mechanics of getting hired in a group barely change between trades, only the words do. For the general version, start with how to get clients or what buyer intent actually means.
