Response Time Impact Calculator
What this tells you
In competitive channels, reply position decides outcomes more than reply quality — the first useful answer gets a disproportionate share of the responses. This tool converts that into money by comparing your current reply position's conversion rate against the one you would reach by answering faster.

At those numbers
- Clients / month today

- Clients / month if you reply first
- 4.8
- Revenue left on the table / month
- $8,000
- Per year
- $96,000
This is arithmetic on the numbers you entered — nothing here is a forecast or a promise about results.
The formula
current clients = leads × current conversion · improved clients = leads × improved conversion · gain = (improved − current) × deal value
How to read the result
- The gap is almost always larger than people expect, because losses from late replies are invisible — you never hear about the job you did not get.
- If the gain is meaningful, the fix is alerting, not effort. You cannot watch a feed all day; a notification can.
- Conversion figures here are yours to set. If you do not know them, measure for a month before trusting the output.
- The output is the money you never hear about, which is why it feels abstract. Nobody emails to say they hired someone else because you replied on Thursday.
Frequently asked questions
Does replying faster to leads really matter?
In public threads it matters enormously, because the author usually stops reading once they have a few usable answers. Being early is often worth more than being the best answer.
How fast should I reply to a lead?
Fast enough to still be visible — in an active group that can mean minutes. The practical answer is to be alerted rather than to check manually.
How do I know my conversion rate by reply position?
Track it for a month: note where your reply landed in the thread and whether it produced a conversation. Most people find the drop-off far steeper than they assumed.
