Keyword alerts
Facebook group keyword alerts that only fire when it matters
Short answer
Facebook has no native keyword alert for groups: turning on notifications gives you every post in the group, not the ones you care about. A keyword alert tool watches the groups for you and pings you only when your terms appear. The failure mode is volume — a raw keyword match on a busy group fires constantly — so HuddleWatch pairs each match with a 0–100 buyer-intent score and only surfaces the posts where somebody is actually about to spend money.
How it works
- 1
Choose the groups
Public or private. We watch from accounts that are already members, so there is nothing to install and no admin permission to request.
- 2
Add your terms
Service words, competitor names, neighbourhood names, the phrasing your customers actually use. Variants and misspellings are matched, so 'photog' catches 'photographer'.
- 3
Set the intent floor
This is the part that keeps alerts usable. Every match is scored 0–100 and anything under your threshold is filed, not sent.
- 4
Get pinged where you work
In-app, email, or a Slack channel. Under a minute from the post appearing.
What you get
Works in private groups
Where the good conversations are. No admin rights, no extension, no access to your account.
Comments as well as posts
Half the buying signals in a group live in a comment thread under someone else's post. Those are watched too.
An intent score on every hit
The difference between an alert channel you check and one you mute in week two.
Mute what you have handled
Save, dismiss, or mark a thread worked so the same post never pings twice or pings two people on the team.
Slack routing
One channel per keyword set if you want it, so the roofing alerts do not land on the person selling gutters.
No browser required
Alerts fire whether or not you are logged in, awake, or at a desk.
Specifications
| Check frequency | Every 60 seconds per watched group, backing off toward 15 minutes only while a group is quiet. |
|---|---|
| Alert latency | Under 60 seconds from post to notification on an active group. |
| Alert channels | In-app feed and email on every plan; Slack and CRM export on Master. |
| Match types | Literal keywords and phrases, plus a 0–100 AI intent score that catches wording your list never predicted. |
| Keyword watches | A Master feature, with no cap on the list. Pro runs on intent scoring alone. |
| Group admin required | No. You do not need to run the group, and Facebook itself offers members no keyword alerts. |
| Private groups | Supported, same as public ones. |
| Duplicate handling | Each post alerts once. Edits and re-shares of a post you have already seen do not re-alert. |
| Quiet hours | Alerts stream continuously; the feed keeps everything so nothing is lost if you mute for the evening. |
| Pricing | $50/month for 10 groups, $150/month for 30 groups and 5 seats. |
The four ways people do this
| Approach | How it works | The catch |
|---|---|---|
| Facebook's own notifications | Turn on 'All posts' for a group. | There is no keyword filter. On any group worth joining this is unusable within a day. |
| Google Alerts | A saved query on indexed web pages. | Group content is not indexed. Private groups are invisible, and public group posts show up days late if at all. |
| Extension-based alerters | A Chrome extension scans the feed your logged-in account loads. | Only fires while the browser is open, and the automation runs on your personal profile. |
| HuddleWatch | Server-side watching from member accounts, keyword match plus a 0–100 intent score before anything reaches you. | Alerts are as good as the keywords behind them — expect to tune the list in the first week. |
Frequently asked questions
Does Facebook have keyword alerts for groups?
No. You can follow a group and receive every post, or nothing. There has never been a native keyword filter for group content, which is the entire reason this category of tool exists.
Can I get alerts from private groups I am not in?
Yes, as long as the group is one that accepts members. Monitoring runs from accounts we operate that join the group normally. If a group is invite-only and closed, nobody can watch it.
How many keywords should I track?
Start with five to ten, all in the language a customer would use rather than the language you use internally. 'Someone to clean my gutters' beats 'gutter maintenance services'.
Will this flood my Slack?
Not if you set an intent floor. A raw keyword feed on ten active groups is dozens of pings a day; scored at 70+, most people see a handful, and almost all of them are worth replying to.
Does it alert on comments too?
Yes. Comment threads are watched alongside posts, which matters because recommendation requests often get their real detail three replies deep.
What does it cost?
Keyword watches with custom intent scoring are on the Master plan at $150/month for 30 groups. Pro at $50/month covers 10 groups with scored alerts.
